Renovating recreational fields happens can become necessary even with the best of maintenance practices. The Town of North Kingston, RI created a municipal design build model for a field renovation project at Wilson Park.  This recreation area is used for youth soccer and little league programs. Working with US Pitchcare, I designed a renovation plan that addresses the existing field safety issues of uneven ground, poor drainage pockets, and inconsistent turf cover. After reviewing the subsurface soil conditions, I decided to recommend stripping the turf to create a uniform plane that allows for the maximum flexibility for pitch layouts. Laser leveling the existing soil material and adding subsurface drainage eliminated drainage issues. Additionally, a new forty zone irrigation system provided enough water, sourced from a new well, to eliminate the need for potable water usage.

“As the Public Works Director for the Town of North Kingstown for over 20 years, I have been in responsible charge on a variety of projects.  Mr. Gerrish is one of the most responsible professionals I have worked with.  Always accessible, a team player, and very knowledgeable in his field.”
